Wilsonville Community Sharing Seeks Location For Clothes Closet
Thursday, February 14th, 2008Wilsonville Community Sharing met last Tuesday, elected board members, discussed the current need in the community, and looked at the ability of a clothes closet and a community garden to help meet the demands of Wilsonville’s neediest citizens.
According to WCS, in January January there were 82 phone calls, 11 office visits, 6 homeless issues, 45 referrals and 17 pieces of information given out. The biggest need was for rent assistance. The Food Bank served 190 families representing 527 individuals.
Progress is being made in the area of a Community Garden - the City currently funds and operates the local community garden, and is in the process of applying for an Americorp/Vista volunteer to service the project. However, a location is still being sought for a local clothes closet - a place where clothes may be donated, sorted, and made available to people in need.
To finish it off, the following board has been elected to Wilsonville Community Sharing: Sandi Young - President, Dick White - Vice President, Linda Elliott - Treasurer, Cheryl Kelly - Secretary, Tammy Puppo, Bruce Weinigmann, Norm Bengel and Francy Bozarth were elected at Members-At-Large.
Remember, your donations and volunteerism is what keeps Wilsonville Community Sharing going. Join the group at the next meeting March 11 from 12:30 - 1:30 at the Frog Pond Church and enrich your community.
