Crime Report April 22 - May5, 2008

Sunday, May 11th, 2008

This week includes some odd, and some disturbing events.  Among the odd are theft items such as a welder stolen from a tug boat.  Among the disturbing, is the theft of money in broad daylight from a person going about their daily business right here in Wilsonville.  Read on.

4.17.08  Someone Stole A Welder.  That Couldn’t Have Been Easy……A man reported a welder had been stolen from his tug boat while moored overnight along the Willamette River.    Based upon the man’s statement, the officer drove to the Butteville boat ramp, about 1/3 mile down river from where the tug was moored.  While there, the officer checked on a 21 foot Marada Powerboat moored on the docks.  The lines had been cut from the boat and then other lines reattached.  After unbottoning the cabin cover, the officer found the stolen welder on the floor of the boat.  The boat’s ignition had been hot-wired.  The owner could not be reached at that time, however a process has been put in place to reach him.

4.22.08  Identity Theft After Transaction at Sah-Hah-Lee Golf Course A woman notified police that someone took information from a check she had written to the Sah-Hah-Lee Golf course and used that information to make a counterfeit check.  The amount of the check was increased from the original amount, and made out to someone she did not know.  The bank said there was no ID listed on the check for Everitt.  In fact, the bank was not even certain where the check was cashed.  She did contact the Golf Course.

4.22.08  Police Officer Happens Upon Crime While on patrol along Ruth Street, an officer came upon a parked vehicle with the trunk open and damage to the driver’s side front window.  CD’s and other miscellaneous valuables were still in the vehicle.  Upon reaching the owners of the vehicle, it was determined that a backpack was stolen.  The backpack was later located  in the parking lot of Wilsonville High School.  No suspects were named.

4.24.08  Zipdries Stolen From Car A woman residing on Country View Loop reported the theft of some zipdrives and a set of headphones from her vehicle.  There were no suspects named.

4.24.08  Computer and Two Bottles of Fine Scotch Stolen A resident on Country View Lane in Charbonneau reported someone unlawfully entered his home and stole a computer tower and two bottles of scotch.  No suspects were named.

4.25.08  Laptop Stolen by ‘Friend’ A man reported his laptop stolen from his apartment.  He suspected a ‘friend’ Edgar who had been staying with him.  When the man left the apartment at SW Bailey St.  Edgar was in the apartment.  When he returned, both Edgar and the laptop were gone.  Edgar is described as being 67" tall, 190 lbs. brown eyes, shaved head, bustache & goatee.  He was wearing a brown jacket, white t-shirt, blue jeans and brown shoes.  The complaintant did not want Edgar arrested, he only wanted his laptop back.  In that event, the officer was unable to take further action.

4.26.08 Purse Lost/Stolen at Subway  An officer was contacted by a resident who reported her purse missing.  She last saw it at Subway in Wilsonville, but when she contacted Subway, they had not found it.

5.01.08  GPS Stolen From Vehicle A resident of Hathaway Count Apartments on SW Wilsonville Rd. reported the break-in of his vehicle, which involved damage to the driver’s side front door window and theft of his Garmin GPS which had been mounted to the dashboard.  No further suspect information was avaialble.  The apartment does not have surveillance  cameras.

5.2.08 Robbery in Broad Daylight on Wilsonville Road A resident of  Canby who works at Bullwinkle’s here in Wilsonville reported that she was robbed.  She reports being followed as she walked to Wells Fargo to cash her paycheck.  After cashing her check, she didn’t see the man following her, so she went to her bus stop  on the north side of the 8200 block on Wilsonville Road.  The suspect came up behind her, held her tight and close with one arm around her waist.  He was kissing her neck and holding her acting like a boyfriend so other people wouldn’t suspect anyting was wrong.  he wanted her money.  She said she didn’t hav any.  He told her that he knew she went to the bank.  She said she was at the bank for other business.  he insisted she had money and he wanted it.  She took her gold hoop earrings off and gave them to him.  She didn’t see a gun or knife, but thought he might have a weapon.  She felt something pressed into the middle of her back, and she was afraid.  He looked in her purse, he saw her money and said "See, I told you you had money."  he took the money and ran north through the parking lot toward Bank of America.  The victim never saw the suspect’s face.  She could not identify him if she saw him again.  She said while he was holding her she did look down and to the side could see his clothig, which she described to the officer.

5.3.08  Dine-And-Dash At Shari’s  Shari’s Restaurant reported the Theft of Services.  Multiple hispanic teens departed the restaurant in a newer white Subaru Legacy and did not pay the full food bill.    The officer was unable to locate the teens in the local area.  The teens were informed that they had not paid their bill in full as they were leaving the restaurant, but they laughed and left anyway.
