Washington Co. Sherriff Seeks Explorer Applicants
Friday, January 11th, 2008You may remember the movie "Ghost Busters" and the famous line "Who you gonna call?" When a hiker, fisherman, hunter or any person is lost, a plane goes down in an unknown location, or evidence needs to be located in a remote area - "Who you gonna call?" Your Sheriff’s Office Explorer Search and Rescue Team.
Explorers are young men and women, age 14 to 20 years, who have gone through extensive and difficult training. Explorers used to be affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America. However, for several years now they have been affiliated with Learning for Life, a non-profit organization of its own, which you can learn about at www.learning-for-life.org. Many schools give credit toward graduation for students who participate in this program.
Those who apply and are accepted must complete a 12-day full emersion training camp academy. (more…)
