April 4 & 5 at 7:30 pm the Wilsonville Theater Company will present the Brody Theater of Portland

In two highly different shows — "Two Nights of Improv".at the Frogpond Grange, 2800 SW Stafford Road (near where Stafford become Wilsonville Road.)

Friday night, the theme will be Theatersports, in which two teams of improvisers create scenes from your suggestions and are scored by a panel of judges. Will they score a perfect 5, or be honked off the stage by the dreaded "boring horn?"

Saturday night the program is called Monologic. After the audience chooses the show’s theme, true stories told by two performers inspire improvised themes created on the spot by the rest of the cast, for a blend of truth, fiction and spectacle.

The Brody Theater has been entertaining Portland area audiences for twelve years with their smart, funny

and lively brand of improvised theater. The Body has also performed numerous times at theater festivals

in Germany, Austria, Slovenia, The Netherlands, and Canada.

Tickets are $8.00 for adults and $7.00 for seniors and kids 12 and under. Tickets are available at Lambs

I know it doesn’t really seem on the surface like there is a very large population in Wilsonville who are in need of assistance when it comes to food, clothing, and shelter, but looks can be deceiving.

The fact of the matter is, the need in this community has been rising along with the population.

The one thing this community does not have is a good resource for clothing for low income folks.  For that reason, representatives of Wilsonville Community Sharing, The West Linn - Wilsonville School District,  and Clacakamas County Community solutions have been looking into creating a clothes closet. 

The goal is to build a clothing resource for those with limited resources. 

To begin with, discussions have included involving students and Community Solutions clients in the intake and processing of the clothing. Canby Kiwanis Thrift Store "has been very gracious in allowing us to learn from them," said one of the representatives.  The end vision at this time includes a program that will have a Retail Component, and a Voucher Component which would be implemented locally.

The one thing that is a sticking point currently is finding an appropriate location for the warehousing process, and perhaps separately, for distribution.  What I’m told is needed , preferably for donation, specifically is  a  dry facility with lights and heat, or the capability for it.

Wilsonville Community Sharing is meeting this Tuesday, March 11 12:30 pm  at Frog Pond Church.  Anyone who is interested in participating in this organization is encouraged to attend.

The CREST/Jane Goodall Science Symposium for 2007 will be this Friday, February 29. It will take place at West Linn High School this year. This is the seventh year for this event in honor of Dr. Goodall, who came to the first year’s symposium. Dr. Goodall will be coming to our area April 23, in conjunction with the Roots and Shoots program she is affiliated (as are we) with.

Students at all grade levels may set-up a science project display to be viewed by the public between 7 and 7:30 PM on that day. They will have an opportunity to tour the rest of the fair and to talk to the public about their own project, as well as participate in some hands-on science activities taking place from 6/7:30. This is not a judged fair.

There will be a keynote address by Dr. Kent Thornburg, a pediatric cardiologist who is known internationally as an expert in cardiopulmonary physiology, placentology, and especially, developmental programming of the heart and the roots of adult-onset coronary artery disease. His address will delve into this topic and is titled Your Grandmother, Your mother, You and Your Kids. His address will be at a high school student level, so primary student may not understand all that is discussed. His address will start at 7:30 PM, immediately after the Science Fair projects are taken down. You are most welcome, but not required to stay for the talk. There will be an awards assembly beginning at 8:30 PM, for the
ISEF International Science and Engineering Fair.

The regional competition challenges high school students to design, build and program a robot that competes in live action.Students have been working on their robot the past six weeks.

On Saturday, March 15th, Grace Chapel will be hosting a community rummage sale. All proceeds will be donated to various schools and organizations in Wilsonville to address the issues of hunger and poverty in our community. In order to make this event a huge success, your donations are needed! From baby clothes to cars and everything in between, we will take it all. Donations are tax deductible

A recent deal to sell the assets of Shebuski & Lloyds Hardware has failed, according to Russ Dubbels, owner. It seems there are few options left,but Dubbels seems undeterred to find a solution that leaves Wilsonville with a hardware store.
