This just in from City Hall -
The Masonry & Ceramic Tile Institute of Oregon selected Wilsonville City Hall as a meritorious masonry and tile project for 2007. The award of merit for the use of masonry was presented at an awards luncheon Jan. 17 in Portland.
The purpose of the awards program is to recognize excellence in masonry and ceramic tile design and craftsmanship. The awards program honors works of distinction and brings public attention to projects designed by architects in Oregon and southwest Washington. Masonry that includes brick, block, stone and/or ceramic tile must be the outstanding feature of the project.
Held every two years, the Hammurabi Awards are named in honor of King Hammurabi and his code of laws - some of the first guidelines governing the construction of dwellings recorded in history.
City employees started working in the new city hall in Sept. 2006. City departments located in the 29,796 square foot building include Community Development, Building, Engineering, Planning, Urban Renewal, Administration, Municipal Court, Finance, Information Systems, Human Resources and Legal. The architect was Group McKenzie and the mason contractor was Davidson’s Masonry Inc.
"It is a real honor for the City to be presented with this award," said Redevelopment Director C.J. Sylvester. "It recognizes the efforts of both the community and the design team."
