The Wood Middle School robotics team is looking for a new coach to mentor during the 2008-9 season and to take over the team in the 2009-10 season. The team competes in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), http://usfirst.org/, a high school robotics competition that allows middle school students. The well-regarded Wilsonville High School robotics team competes in FIRST’s
FRC competition.
Coaching a team requires a time commitment from October through March. Parents of current sixth graders with an interest
in robotics are encouraged to consider the position. The 2007-8 team had five seventh graders and two sixth graders. There is room for three more students on the team in the 2008-9 season.

I know it’s kind of tough for some of us to be thinking ahead to the next school year already. The PSS at Boones Ferry Primary is offering a program that makes not thinking about it even easier, by them purchasing the school supplies for you. Just think….less school shopping….
Simply fill out the order form that comes home in your child’s backpack and return to school by June 12th, we do the rest. Your child’s supplies will be waiting for them in their classroom in an attractive carrying case when school starts in September. This is not a fundraiser – it is a service provided through PSS (Parents and Staff for Students) to make getting prepared for the 2008-2009 school year easier.

This afternoon at Wood Middle School, parents and students were treated to a show. This year’s sixth graders performed plays, music, and showed their art projects. Some of them are quite talented.

Would you like to spend an entirely pleasurable evening listening to local musicians? The All Wilsonville Schools Strings Concert is being held at Wilsonville High School Thursday, May 29 at 6:30 pm. Last one of these I attended was free with an option to make a donation to the Wilsonville Schools Arts Programs at the door. And the music wasn’t half bad, either.
All parents of incoming sixth graders are invited to a social and information session at Wood Middle School on Tuesday, May 27, in the Wood Commons. The evening begins with cookies and coffee, and an opportunity to meet PTSA members and school staff at 6:30 pm. At 7:00 pm, teachers and administrators will talk about the program, curriculum, school day, and
transition to middle school. There will also be guided tours.
West Linn-Wilsonville Schools have put forth their listing of summer school offerings for the year. They’re not all the traditional summer school type of activities. Some of them look like fun!
Want to see 7th graders all dressed up and in the role of expert? Then you should definitely visit the Wood Middle School Renaissance Fair today, being held at the Wood gym. The students are dressed in period costumes, and ready to share their research projects on that era with you. You’ll see displays on everything from medicine, to arts and sciences, to travel.

Wood Middle School reminds you that their Spring Arts Celebration is tonight - Friday, May 2, 6-7:30pm The Celebration, features art, band choir and drama. This a fundraiser for the Related Arts Department. Enjoy as the Wood Orchestra, Jazz Band, 7th & 8th Grade Choirs, and 8th Grade Drama Students perform! Want to get out for an evening of some really terrific orchestral music? The West Linn - Wilsonville School District is presenting their end of year concert at West Linn High School’s new auditorium.
I have attended these concerts for the past two years as I have had a child in the strings program, and simply because I adore violin music. I am never disappointed.
The cost is generally Free, with a donation box present at the concert if you feel so inclined.
It’s a terrific way to not only support arts in the school and community, but it’s also just plain good entertainment.
